Meridian, MS

How in the world did I get so far behind on my blogging? A never-ending house renovation is a good enough reason, I suppose. Well, waaaay back in October, Mom, Grandpa and I took a road trip to Meridian, MS. During the summer months I chatted with Grandpa about his Hall relatives and he mentioned how nice it would be to go see Uncle Joe in Meridian. Mom finally convinced him (we think) that Uncle Joe had been dead for eighty plus years, but we could certainly make a trip to the graveyard if he wanted. He wanted, so we delivered. I spent weeks gathering as much information as I could about our descendents in Meridian and on October 1, 2010 we loaded up and hit the road ...

Our itinerary consisted of a fact-finding visit to the Lauderdale County Archives and the Webb Funeral Home. We also visited the Coker's Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery, found Uncle Joe and several other members of the Hall family.

In our travels around the city, we noticed brightly decorated carousel horses displayed on nearly every street corner. Before heading home, we stopped to take pictures ... this is the horse outside McDonald's.
